Southampton Test MP Satvir Kaur has launched a brand-new competition to celebrate the city’s entrepreneurial spirit — the Southampton Test Small Business Champion 2025.
The initiative aims to shine a spotlight on the amazing small and independent businesses that help drive Southampton’s local economy—from creative cake decorators and family-run shops to accountants, cafés, and tech start-ups.
Satvir Kaur MP said, “Having grown up with a small family business in Southampton, I know first-hand that they are the beating heart of our community—creating jobs, supporting families, and keeping our high streets vibrant and unique. This competition is about celebrating their success, hard work, and creativity — and giving them the recognition they deserve.
“I’d love to hear from you, so please email me or get in touch via Facebook or Instagram to tell me about your favourite local business. Whether it’s because they have the best cakes in town, the friendliest staff or they help support the community. Give me your reason and get them on the shortlist. The businesses with the most nominations will make it into the final round, which will then go to a public vote on Facebook and Instagram.
“Each finalist will also appear in a special spotlight feature so everyone can learn more about what they do. With Small Business Saturday just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to shop local, support our SMEs, and help champion the brilliant small businesses that make Southampton so special.”
The winning business will be crowned Southampton Test Small Business Champion 2025 and will receive:
· A guided tour of the Houses of Parliament,
· A cup of tea and discussion with Satvir Kaur MP, and
· An opportunity to meet a relevant government minister to talk about the challenges and opportunities facing small businesses in their sector.
Nominations can be submitted via the online form or by emailing Satvir.Kaur.MP@parliament.uk. The final poll will run from Thursday, December 4th, for twenty-four hours, and the winner will be announced on Small Business Saturday, the 6th of December.
Deadline for nominations: Open now – closing Wednesday, December 3, 2025.
Businesses receiving the most nominations will be shortlisted, and those finalists will then proceed to a public vote. The final poll will be held on Satvir Kaur’s Instagram and Facebook pages for twenty-four hours.
The winner will be announced on Small Business Saturday, December 6, 2025, via social media.
To qualify, nominated businesses must be based in the Southampton Test constituency.
