This week, it was my absolute pleasure to be invited to attend St Denys Primary’s annual carol concert, held opposite the school at St Denys Church. Whilst, first and foremost, I was there to enjoy the incredible show laid on by the students, I was also there to present prizes to the winners of my 2025 Christmas card competition.
I am very grateful to the students of St Denys for taking part this year and a big congratulations goes to Hallie Haddon, aged 9, on coming out top with her incredible Christmas tree design!

I totally fell in love with Hallie’s artwork, particularly all the different people coming together around the tree. For me, it sums up the spirit of togetherness that Christmas represents, whilst also reflecting our vibrant and welcoming city. Hallie is the proud winner of a special mascot experience at an upcoming Saints home match at St Mary’s, very kindly provided by Southampton Football Club, along with a goodie bag full of prizes from the House of Commons. That, along with having her design on my official Christmas card this year, which goes to loads of different people including the Prime Minister!
That said, the competition was fierce and it was such a difficult decision. So a big well done also goes to my two runners up, Jasmine and Martha. Special shout out to the red wine and the snowman finger prints (see below)! I was pleased to give both girls some House of Commons goodies to take home too.

A huge thank you must also go to Headteacher Billy Davies, along with particular thanks to Deputy Headteacher Sarah Andrews for organising the competition internally. It was inspiring to hear how inclusive the school is, doing so well at supporting the children as individuals, encouraging and allowing those with additional needs to thrive alongside their classmates.
Finally, a huge well done to the pupils for putting on a Christmas carol concert to remember. Particular highlights were dancing to Kelly Clarkson, watching the whole school singing The Greatest Showman, and Jasmine the incredible dancing Makaton tree!

Thanks again for having me. Wishing everyone at St Denys a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
